New laptop: TUXEDO Computers helps Augsburg social department store - TUXEDO Computers

After a burglary "contact in Augsburg e. V." is missing a laptop and TUXEDO Computers replaces it.

Augsburg (Germany), 8th of July 2021. At the end of May, the social department store "contact in Augsburg e. V." was broken into and, among other things, the laptop of the chairwoman of the board Roswitha Kugelmann was stolen. A big nuisance for the association, because the material damage is greater than the value of the stolen items. TUXEDO Computers had learned of the theft and subsequently produced a new laptop with a special lid laser. The device was handed over personally in the garden of the social department store on July 6.

Augsburg companies and associations must stand together

"One of our employees had told us about the theft," explains Herbert Feiler, CEO TUXEDO Computers. "We found it unbelievable that someone would break into a place where others are being helped and where the association itself is particularly socially active. That's why we wanted to support Ms. Kugelmann and, as a representative Augsburg company, thank her for the help she has provided for 11 years."

Logo laser engraving on laptop lid as protection against theft

Devices from TUXEDO Computers can be configured individually - depending on your needs. In addition, customers can determine the keyboard layout and also the logo on the lid of the device. In the case of the sponsored InfinityBook Pro 15, the existing logo was modified in coordination with the social department store. This is intended to deter thieves from stealing the laptop and trying to sell it because it is no longer a standard device. "We liked the idea right away and were very happy to get our "own" laptop," says Roswith Kugelmann.

As a small thank you, TUXEDO Computers received two cookbooks "Augsburg kocht" (Augsburg Cooks) - in addition to recipes, this book also contains interviews and portraits of Augsburg companies. The book can be purchased from "contact in Augsburg e. V.".

In addition, the association is considering purchasing more equipment from TUXEDO Computers, as the current PCs are no longer as powerful. The association and the Augsburg-based company will remain in contact.

What is the social department store "contact in Augsburg e. V."?

The non-profit association was founded in 1999 by Roswitha Kugelmann and Mike Rühl together with nine like-minded people. The association is financed by the proceeds from its own work. The social department store sells second-hand goods of all kinds, from household goods and small electrical appliances to furniture. Also high-quality clothing as well as books, toys and much more. Everyone is entitled to shop here - this strengthens the self-esteem of those affected, who cannot afford anything else, and no stigmatization sets in.
The association now has 130 permanent employees. Another 50 or so employees are interns and volunteers. All age groups are represented, from 16 to 87 years.
